Our Vision

Cosmovisiones Ancestrales envisions a world in which the ancestral knowledge, dignity, territories, and self-determination of Indigenous peoples are respected and valued as intangible ancestral heritage that guides us to processes of demilitarization, ecological restoration and freedom from violence. We envision a world in which public health is based on a fair collaboration between ancestral, pluri-cultural knowledge, modern medicine/psychology, human rights, environmental justice, and political diplomacy. We envision a future in which borders have been demilitarized and re-designed ecological regeneration and peaceful freedom of movement for all sentient life. We see build towards futures in which armed conflicts and migrant prisons have been demobilized, where survivors and perpetrators have access to transformative healing processes.

We see a world without extractivism. By transforming our environment we can then transform our world.

Consent

Violence prevention begins with early and iterative popular education and cultural mainstreaming on consent.

Healing Justice

Without justice, there won't be peace. Justice is a primary intervention for violence prevention.

Inclusivity

Respect

The golden rule: "treat others the way you wish to be treated."

Respect is inextricably linked with upholding dignity for human beings and all sentient life.

Peace

What is peace but freedom from violence and healing justice for harm(s) that are enacted?

9.png

Healing-centered harm reduction

A concept innovated by our colleagues at Reframe Health & Justice. Healing-centered harm reduction acknowledges that harm may be inevitable. What initiatives can we take to prevent and reduce harm and orient affected parties toward healing?

Solidarity

Cooperation

The work must be envisioned, designed, implemented and evaluating by centering the capacity building and leadership of those who are survivors of structural and interpersonal violence, those who hold knowledge from first hand experience with systems of historic and intergenerational harms.
